How Israelis Beat the Summer Heat: Smart AC Trends and Home Habits
New Tadiran data for summer 2026 reveals shifting Israeli air conditioning habits, a surge in smart app usage, and domestic thermostat battles.

As the sweltering heat of the Israeli summer reaches its peak, new data reveals fascinating insights into how locals manage their climate control. According to figures released by Tadiran, based on MY TADIRAN smart system activity during July and August 2026 and a survey of 526 customers, air conditioning habits are evolving rapidly alongside technological integration.
One of the most prominent trends is the drop in preferred temperature. While the most popular setting in the summer of 2025 was 24 degrees Celsius, this year the preference shifted down to 23 degrees. Meanwhile, 10:00 PM remains the ultimate peak hour for turning on the AC, echoing last year's patterns. July and August recorded approximately 73,460 activations at this exact hour, accounting for 7.5% of all system operations.
The Surge in Smart App Usage
The most significant transformation, however, is the massive spike in application engagement. Throughout the summer, nearly one million AC activations were logged via MY TADIRAN—a fivefold increase compared to roughly 200,000 activations in the summer of 2025. The number of active users surged by 2.6 times within a single year, reflecting how smart climate management has woven itself into daily routines.
Among the standout features, the smart Shabbat timer experienced a staggering rise. While only 25% of users utilized it the previous summer, that figure skyrocketed to 64% in the summer of 2026, meaning nearly two out of every three users now rely on it. Additionally, about a third of system users leveraged the Energy Dashboard to monitor household electricity consumption and receive efficiency recommendations.
Israel's Air Conditioning Map
Tel Aviv-Yafo leads the national rankings with over 418,000 activations over the two-month period, followed by Rishon LeZion. Jerusalem climbed from fifth to third place, while Haifa entered the top five for the first time, ranking fourth just ahead of Ramat Gan. When looking at activations per 1,000 residents among app users, Shefa-'Amr takes the lead, followed closely by Tamra and Haifa.
Who Controls the Thermostat at Home?
Beyond app statistics, the customer survey sheds light on domestic dynamics. While 72% of respondents claim they are the ones who decide the household temperature, silent thermostat wars are common. A striking 74% admitted that when another household member altered the temperature, they secretly changed it back without informing them.
Sleeping habits also show interesting contrasts: 56% of respondents sleep with the air conditioning running all night while bundled up under a heavy duvet. Furthermore, 41% remotely turn on their AC before arriving home to ensure a chilled sanctuary waiting for them, proving that when it comes to beating the Israeli heat, comfort trumps all else.
