Supreme Court to Hear Petition on Security Details for Yair Golan
The Supreme Court will review a petition by "The Democrats" on Tuesday concerning security for party leader Yair Golan amid high threat levels.

The Supreme Court will hold a hearing tomorrow (Tuesday) at 10:00 AM regarding a petition filed by "The Democrats" party concerning the security arrangements for party leader Maj. Gen. (res.) Yair Golan. The petition was directed against Shin Bet Director David Zini, the Ministerial Committee for Shin Bet Affairs, and the Government of Israel. The hearing is scheduled to take place before a panel of judges headed by Justice Yitzhak Amit.
According to an announcement by "The Democrats", the petition was filed demanding security details for party leaders Yair Golan and Gadi Eisenkot, after police classified the threat level against both as high—level 4 out of 6. The petition included examples from hundreds of recent threats directed at Golan, including threats recorded following an interview given by Prime Minister's wife, Sara Netanyahu.
Previously, the advisory political committee refrained from recommending security for Golan, and the Ministerial Committee for Shin Bet Affairs transferred the decision to the responsibility of Shin Bet Director Zini. During tomorrow's hearing, the state will be required to present its position and respond to the claims, among others through the head of the High Court of Justice department at the State Attorney's Office and Shin Bet representatives.
