Following the interview on Channel 14: Sara Netanyahu is required to apologize - or pay 1.5 million shekels

Amir Sade, one of the defendants in the case of firing flares at the Prime Minister's residence, sent a warning letter today (Wednesday) to the Prime Minister's wife, Sara Netanyahu, and Channel 14, claiming that statements made in an interview on the channel constitute defamation. The warning letter demanded that Netanyahu and the channel publish a correction and remove the publications. If they do not do so, Sade threatens lawsuits totaling 4.5 million shekels.

The Prime Minister's wife, Sara Netanyahu, and Channel 14 received warning letters before legal proceedings following remarks made by Netanyahu in an interview with the channel, in which she referred, among other things, to the four defendants in the flare-firing case. The letters were sent by Adv. Gonen Ben Yitzhak, who represents Amir Sade in the case on behalf of the 'Otef Atzurim' organization.

During the interview, Netanyahu said that those involved "fired bombs at us," and claimed that "the intention was really to kill," defining the event as an act of sabotage:

"This is exactly terrorism, it was planned."

She further said that it was a "bomb with phosphorus, it burns and kills," and claimed that if not for a deviation of centimeters, a security guard at the scene "would have burned alive."

The warning letter claims that the remarks attribute to Sade an attempted murder, an act of terrorism, and the use of phosphorus weapons, and that they constitute severe defamation. The letter also noted that Sade is a person with no criminal record, that the presumption of innocence applies to him, and that the criminal proceedings regarding him are still ongoing.

According to Sade's counsel, the court has already determined that the four claims mentioned in the interview are incorrect. The letter claims that stating them in the context of a television interview constitutes defamation. It should be emphasized that these are claims raised in the warning letter on behalf of Sade, and not a ruling within a defamation proceeding.

As part of the demands, Channel 14 was asked to remove the interview and clips from it from its digital platforms. Netanyahu was required to publish a correction and an apology in which it would be clarified, among other things, that there were no bombs or phosphorus and that it was not terrorism or an attempt to kill. If the demands are not met, Sade announced his intention to sue for 1.5 million shekels from Netanyahu, an identical sum from Channel 14, and another 1.5 million shekels from "Digital Achshav 14" - a total of 4.5 million shekels.

Adv. Gonen Ben Yitzhak stated:

"The days are over when the Prime Minister, his family members, and his propaganda channel lie and smear citizens without a response. Sara Netanyahu will apologize, or she will pay."
