Stratasys Wins $27.6 Million in Texas Patent Suit Against Bambu Lab
Israeli 3D printer maker Stratasys won approximately $27.6 million in a Texas patent infringement lawsuit against Chinese rival Bambu Lab.
Israeli 3D printer manufacturer Stratasys has been awarded approximately $27.6 million in damages in a patent infringement lawsuit against Chinese desktop 3D printer maker Bambu Lab and several affiliated companies. A jury in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas ruled in favor of Stratasys following a week-long trial, determining that all four patents at issue are valid and that Bambu Lab and the co-defendants infringed upon them.
The awarded amount represents compensation for past infringements. The patents in question cover core 3D printing technologies, including a heated print bed, a method for building objects layer by layer using molten material, a mechanism designed to clean material residues during transitions between colors or printing materials, and a system that detects the touch and pressure of the print head for calibration and precision.
Stratasys originally filed the lawsuit in August 2024 against Bambu Lab and three affiliated entities: Shanghai Lunkuo Technology, Tuozhu Technology, and Shenzhen Tuozhu Technology. This concluded proceeding is the first of two lawsuits Stratasys is pursuing against the companies in Texas.
The initial complaint involved five patents, four of which were addressed in the recent trial, while the fifth patent will be examined in a separate proceeding yet to be scheduled. Stratasys welcomed the verdict, expressing gratitude to the jury and the court, and emphasized its continued focus on technological innovation and intellectual property protection.
