As political campaigns ramp up automated calls and spam floods mobile phones, users are seeking efficient ways to block unsolicited communications without blocking individual numbers manually. Both iOS and Android operating systems offer built-in tools to filter out unknown callers and reduce disruptions effectively.

Blocking Unknown Callers on iPhone

For Apple users, iOS provides a straightforward toggle to silence callers who are not saved in your contacts. To enable this feature, open the device settings, navigate to Applications, and select Phone. If the Silence Unknown Callers switch appears, turn it on. In interfaces featuring Screen Unknown Callers, select Silence. Relevant calls will be silenced or sent directly to voicemail while still appearing in the recent calls list.

Managing Spam Protection on Samsung Devices

Samsung smartphone users can activate built-in spam protection through the native phone application. Open the phone app, tap the three dots menu, and enter settings. Locate Caller ID and spam protection, enable the feature, and accept the terms. Within the same menu, activate Block spam and scam calls if available. Users can choose between blocking all identified spam and high-risk scam calls, though the latter may allow general spam to pass through.

Filtering Calls on Google and Android Devices

Google devices feature integrated spam and caller ID controls accessible directly through device settings. Navigate to settings, select Caller ID and spam, and ensure See caller ID and spam is active. To filter calls automatically rather than just receiving warnings, enable Filter spam calls. According to Google, filtered calls generate no missed call or voicemail notifications, but remain accessible within the call history.
