Shino Zuaretz to Continue as Football Association Chair After Frej Disqualified
Shino Zuaretz is set to serve another term as Israel Football Association chairman after Issawi Frej's candidacy was disqualified for lacking sufficient endorsements.
The race for the chairmanship of the Israel Football Association took a decisive turn after verification of endorsement letters showed that only Shino Zuaretz qualified for the next vetting stage. The deadline for submitting candidacies was October 11, 2026, with only Zuaretz and Issawi Frej entering the contest.
According to the review, Zuaretz secured endorsements representing 1,070 votes, or about 83.7% of the total eligible votes. Frej received only 94 votes, representing roughly 7.3%, falling short of the mandatory 10% threshold required by association regulations.
With Frej failing to meet the minimum threshold, his candidacy was dropped. Zuaretz remains the sole eligible candidate and is set to serve as the association chairman for another four-year term.
