Shefi Paz, Prominent Activist for South Tel Aviv Residents, Dies
Shefi Paz, a leading activist who campaigned against illegal immigration and advocated for south Tel Aviv residents, has passed away at the age of her life-long mission.

Shefi Paz, a prominent activist who led the public campaign against illegal immigration in Israel and advocated for residents of south Tel Aviv, has passed away. The "Otef Tahanat Merkazit" association announced her death on Monday, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of one of the most prominent figures in the local municipal struggle.
Paz, the daughter of Holocaust survivors who immigrated to Israel from Poland during her childhood, dedicated recent years to fighting for residents of old neighborhoods in south Tel Aviv. Her activism against the presence of undocumented migrants in the area frequently sparked sharp public debate.
Since 2013, Paz stood at the forefront of the movement opposing illegal infiltration into Israel. She organized demonstrations, confronted public officials and government authorities, and worked tirelessly to bring the plight of south Tel Aviv residents to the national agenda. Throughout her activism, she was arrested several times and even served a prison sentence.
Amalia Ozer, deputy director of the association, and spokesperson Yaakov Sela paid tribute to her legacy: "Today we lost a brave leader, a dear friend, and a woman who became a symbol of determination, dedication, and love for the country. Shefi dedicated her life to the residents of south Tel Aviv, serving as the voice of the invisible and forgotten people."
The association vowed to continue her mission, stating that while Paz is gone, her struggle persists. They pledged to maintain the fight for south Tel Aviv and address illegal immigration until the goals to which she dedicated her life are fully achieved.
