Sean "Diddy" Combs will remain in federal custody longer than originally planned. The expected release date for the 56-year-old rapper, currently serving his sentence at the Fort Dix federal prison in New Jersey, has been pushed from January 21 to March 2028.

Luxury Behind Bars

This adjustment follows reports that Combs was once again placed in solitary confinement amid allegations of possessing contraband cell phones, alcohol, special meals, and massages provided by fellow inmates. According to reports from People and E! News, the updated release date appears in the records of the Federal Bureau of Prisons, though the exact day in March remains subject to conflicting reports.

"We do not comment on individual inmate management decisions for privacy and security reasons," prison officials stated regarding the shift.

Investigation and Solitary Confinement

An investigative report published by NBC News detailed allegations that Combs allegedly spent thousands of dollars monthly to maintain elements of his accustomed lifestyle. Inmates claimed other prisoners cooked for him, cleaned his cell, washed his clothes, and gave him massages. Following the report's publication, Combs was moved to solitary confinement for the second time in recent months.

Combs's spokesperson, Juda Engelmayer, rejected the portrayal of the rapper's prison conditions, arguing that routine prison matters are being sensationalized. Combs was sentenced in October 2025 to 50 months in prison after being convicted on two counts of transporting individuals across state lines for prostitution, while his legal team continues to appeal the conviction.
