Sara Netanyahu on conspiracy against Yair Golan: "He was dressed and ready early on Oct 7 - when the PM didn't know"

The Prime Minister's wife, Sara Netanyahu, was interviewed this evening (Monday) on Channel 14 and raised claims regarding the conduct of the Democrats party leader and Major General (res.) Yair Golan on the morning of October 7, questioning how he arrived in the south at such an early hour, while, according to her, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did not yet know what was happening.

"When you are a military man of such a high rank and claim that you were fighting on October 7, you were already there early in the morning, dressed and ready," Netanyahu said. "At a very, very early hour when others did not know, such as the Prime Minister."

Golan, a Major General (res.) and former Deputy Chief of Staff, went to the Gaza envelope area on the morning of October 7 and assisted in rescue and combat operations. Netanyahu's words raise questions regarding the timing of his arrival in the field, but she did not present evidence that Golan knew about the Hamas attack in advance.

"I don't want to talk about the betrayal theory"

When asked explicitly about the betrayal theory surrounding the events of October 7, Netanyahu replied: "I don't want to talk about that." However, she continued to address the investigation into the failures of the massacre and criticized the demand for the establishment of a state commission of inquiry.

"These days they are insisting on a committee that is essentially political. That same week, the State Comptroller's investigation was closed," she said. "So, on one hand, they say an investigation is needed, and on the other hand, there is a fairly fair investigation. The State Comptroller was not on any side, he was not a supporter of ours. I got the impression that he really wants to know and investigate the truth."

Netanyahu claimed that senior officials in the security establishment did not fully cooperate with the State Comptroller's review. "I understood that many issues arose. I also saw who did not cooperate with him - the Chief of Staff, the head of the Shin Bet," she said. Conversely, according to her, "the second the Prime Minister heard, he invited him immediately and said: 'Everything is before you.'"

"There was an investigation, why did they stop it? For what reason?" she wondered. "On one hand, they say it's needed. This was the only investigation that was being conducted, but they want an investigation whose results are essentially known in advance."

The Democrats party strongly condemned the Prime Minister's wife's words: "Slander and lies by Sara Netanyahu this evening on Channel 14. Spreading conspiracies against Major General Yair Golan, and blackening his heroism on October 7, is crossing a red line that borders on madness. While Netanyahu was running to put on makeup and look for excuses, Yair Golan was charging forward and saving lives. The facts will not change. It doesn't matter how much the Netanyahu family and Channel 14 try to rewrite them."
