Samaria Military Court Sentences Killer of IDF Soldier to Life in Prison
A Samaria military court sentenced the terrorist who killed Golani soldier Amit Ben Yigal in 2020 to life imprisonment and massive compensation.

A military court in Samaria sentenced the terrorist responsible for the death of Golani reconnaissance soldier Staff Sgt. Amit Ben Yigal in 2020 to life imprisonment on Thursday.
Life Sentence and Compensation
The terrorist, Nadmi Abu Bakr, was convicted of intentional homicide—the equivalent of murder under Judea and Samaria military law—and obstruction of justice. The military court ordered him to serve life in prison and pay over 4 million shekels in compensation.
According to the IDF Spokesperson's Unit, the conviction stems from an incident on May 12, 2020, during an operational arrest raid in the West Bank village of Ya'bad. The terrorist dropped a 9-to-11-kilogram brick from a rooftop onto IDF troops, striking Ben Yigal. He then fled, feigned sleep to mislead security forces, and later returned to clear debris from the scene.
"Today, after six years, the sentence was handed down. Justice has spoken, and the man who cut short my son's life has been sent to life imprisonment. Yet no sentence, severe as it may be, will bring my Amit back," said Baruch Ben Yigal, the soldier's father.
