Marco Rubio Identifies Iran as Middle East's Core Threat

In a comprehensive interview with Breitbart, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the primary obstacle to peace and stability in the Middle East is the regime in Iran. Rubio asserted that the old paradigm viewing the Palestinian issue as the root of the conflict has been shattered, pointing instead to Tehran and its network of proxies.

The number one source of instability, of war and conflict, and the primary obstacle to peace in the Middle East is the Islamic regime in Tehran. If there were no radical Shia clerics in Iran, if they didn't exist, none of these problems would exist.

Countering Tehran and Proxies

Rubio detailed how Iran utilizes regional proxies such as Hezbollah in Lebanon to project power and target Israel. He highlighted the Trump administration's decisive actions to dismantle Iran's conventional military infrastructure, noting efforts to suppress oil exports and choke off funding for militant groups through maximum economic pressure.

Foreign Policy and Global Conflicts

Transitioning to broader foreign policy, Marco Rubio discussed the 'America First' doctrine during a speech in Athens, urging Western leaders to embrace their civilizational heritage. Regarding the ongoing war in Ukraine, Rubio noted that US mediation efforts remain tied to core American national interests, while acknowledging the severe human toll of the conflict involving Russia.
