Japanese child star Rona Hirata, known to her fans as Luna-chan, has passed away at the age of eight following a sudden battle with influenza-induced myocarditis.
Her family shared the heartbreaking news, noting that she slipped away peacefully. "A third of Rona's life was spent as an idol," her family wrote in a statement. "Rona loved everyone. If possible, please let her remain in a corner of your hearts as an eternal idol."
Rona was a trainee in the Japanese pop music scene as part of the DIANNA project girl group based in Nagoya. Born on April 16, 2018, she loved traveling and playing video games. She performed live on September 20, less than a week before her tragic passing, and shared her final social media post shortly after, thanking fans for a wonderful time.
The family held a private funeral and expressed deep gratitude to friends, fans, and management for supporting her brief but bright career. Fans flooded her social media pages with tributes, expressing shock and sorrow over the sudden loss of the young star.
