A suspicious incident near the Hadarim elementary school in Rishon LeZion sparked concern among parents on Tuesday morning after a fifth-grade student reported that two strangers in a vehicle attempted to lure him and his classmates. According to the child, a female driver urged the group to approach the car while a man attempted to hide in the back seat. Despite the alarming nature of the report, the information was not initially brought to the police, and an official investigation only began following inquiries from local media.

The incident occurred earlier in the week, but the student's parents chose not to contact law enforcement directly, instead informing the school's parent committee. Late Monday evening, the committee notified the school administration. On Tuesday morning, parent committee chair Esti Ohana distributed a warning message via WhatsApp to parent groups, which quickly spread across Rishon LeZion and caused widespread anxiety. Neither the parents, the committee, nor the school administration reported the incident to authorities on Monday night.

Following media inquiries, the Rishon LeZion municipality contacted local police operations officers to launch a formal review. City education officials criticized the initial handling of the report, emphasizing that safety concerns involving children should immediately be referred to law enforcement rather than handled through internal school checks. Officials noted that the city's extensive surveillance camera network could have quickly verified the claims. Police confirmed that no official complaint had been filed through emergency dispatch, but stated that an investigation into the circumstances is now underway.
