Sephardic Torah World Mourns Rebbetzin Shoshana Cohen at Age 90
Rebbetzin Shoshana Cohen, matriarch of a prominent Jerusalem family and mother of several leading rabbis, has passed away at the age of 90. Her funeral is scheduled in Jerusalem.

The Sephardic Torah world is in mourning following the passing of Rebbetzin Shoshana Cohen, who died overnight at the age of 90. A matriarch of a deeply rooted Jerusalem family, she served as a foundational pillar in raising generations of Torah scholars and spiritual leaders.
Among her sons are several prominent rabbis holding key positions in religious life: Rabbi Zamir Cohen, chairman of the Hidabroot organization and head of the Even Nezer yeshiva; Rabbi Zvadia Cohen, Chief Rabbi of Tel Aviv, member of the Supreme Rabbinical Court, and head of the Tel Aviv rabbinical court; Rabbi Zohar Cohen, head of the Ateret Reuven yeshiva for youth in Beitar Illit; and Rabbi Avihai Zalman Cohen, a lecturer at the Heichal Meir yeshiva. All the brothers are actively engaged in Torah dissemination, halakhic ruling, rabbinical judging, and the administration of educational institutions.
She established her home alongside her late husband, Rabbi Eliezer Cohen, who served as a beloved educator and prominent spiritual figure at the Musayoff Synagogue. Despite financial hardships in their rented home in Jerusalem's Beit Israel neighborhood, the couple raised their children with unwavering dedication to Torah study and moral refinement.
Her funeral procession is set to depart from the Sephardic funeral hall at Har HaMenuchot in Jerusalem. The family will sit for the traditional seven-day shiva mourning period at the late rebbetzin's residence on Kfar HaShiloach Street in the capital.
