Real Madrid Hosts Sevilla in La Liga
Matchday 9 of the Spanish La Liga continues tonight as Real Madrid hosts Sevilla, seeking to stay close to league leaders Barcelona ahead of next week's El Clasico. The match follows a thrilling 4-3 Champions League victory over Roma.
Lineup Changes and Key Absences
Jose Mourinho's side is currently nine points behind Barcelona and knows they cannot afford to drop points before the big clash at Camp Nou. Los Blancos arrive missing Vinicius Junior, who was suspended for four matches following a red card against Villarreal.
"We must maintain our winning momentum and focus entirely on the upcoming challenges," the coaching staff noted ahead of the fixture.
Historical Context and Standings
Sevilla has started the season well, trailing Real Madrid by just four points under coach Luis Garcia Plaza. However, the Andalusian side holds a dismal record against Real Madrid, going 15 consecutive matches without a win across all competitions.
