TV Scandal: Rani Rahav Throws Book About Itamar Ben Gvir on Live Broadcast
Israeli PR specialist Rani Rahav sparked outrage by throwing a book about Minister Itamar Ben Gvir on live television. The "Btsalmo" organization filed an urgent complaint with the Second Authority demanding disciplinary action.
Prominent Israeli public relations specialist and regular panelist on Channel 13's "Ulpan Shishi," Rani Rahav, has sparked a public outcry after throwing a book about National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir during a live broadcast. The book in question was written by Ofer Rosenbaum.
Following the incident, Shai Glick, CEO of the human rights organization "Btsalmo," dispatched an urgent complaint to David Regev, the public complaints commissioner at the Second Authority for Television and Radio.
In his letter, Glick emphasized that Rani Rahav is not an occasional interviewee but a permanent panelist who is expected to demonstrate public responsibility and basic civil discourse. According to Glick, throwing objects on live television legitimizes aggressive and violent behavior, setting a harmful example for children and teenagers watching the broadcast.
The complaint also noted that the public degradation of books carries a heavy historical and cultural weight, recalling the poignant warning of Heinrich Heine:
"Where they burn books, they will also in the end burn people."
The "Btsalmo" organization has urged the Second Authority to initiate breach proceedings against the news company, reprimand those involved, and clarify that there is no place for any form of violence on television screens.
