Electric Range Rover Sport Debuts With 609 KM Range and Israel Arrival in 2027
Range Rover Sport is introducing its first fully electric version, offering 550 hp and a WLTP range of up to 609 km. The model is slated to arrive in Israel by mid-2027.
Range Rover Sport is entering the competitive luxury electric vehicle market, offering a fully electric powertrain for the first time in its history. The model is expected to arrive in Israel by mid-2027, and an interest registry has already been opened locally, though pricing has not yet been announced.
Performance and Battery Specifications
One of the most notable metrics is the driving range: according to the manufacturer, the electric version will offer up to 609 km under the WLTP standard, powered by a 118.5 kWh battery. Alongside the standard figure, the company estimates a real-world range of up to 537 km. The vehicle is equipped with dual electric motors and an 800-volt electrical architecture supporting rapid charging.
Charging times have also been a focal point of development. According to manufacturer data, plugging into a fast DC charging station can raise the battery state from 10% to 80% in approximately 22 minutes, or add up to 220 km of range in just ten minutes under optimal conditions. The Range Rover app will enable drivers to locate stations and schedule charging sessions, while a home charger will be offered as an optional accessory.
Power and Off-Road Capabilities
In terms of performance, the propulsion system delivers 550 horsepower and 850 Nm of torque. The company states that acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 4.5 seconds when the Dynamic Launch mode is engaged. The electric variant also features air suspension, all-wheel steering, and an active roll-reduction system designed to combine on-road performance with off-road capability.
"To demonstrate these capabilities, the manufacturer tested the vehicle in the marble quarries of Carrara, Italy, tackling steep inclines of up to 45 degrees, sharp turns, and shifting surfaces."
As part of its final development phase, the prototype navigated polished marble and marble dust. The global testing program also included runs at the Magarigawa Club circuit near Tokyo.
According to the manufacturer, the electric version's body structure is 61% stiffer and its center of gravity is 73 mm lower compared to the plug-in hybrid variants of the Range Rover Sport. Externally, distinctions include an aerodynamic grille and dedicated wheel designs, while the cabin features a customized sound signature accompanying driving in various modes.
The electric variant follows more than 20 years of Range Rover Sport production and will be manufactured at the Solihull plant in the United Kingdom alongside gasoline, diesel, and plug-in hybrid versions. For prospective buyers in Israel, the opening of the interest list marks the preliminary step ahead of the official launch, with trim levels and local pricing details yet to be finalized.
