Israeli police arrested suspects and seized illegal firearms, ammunition, and copper ingots used for manufacturing bullets during weekend security operations in Rahat.

Police seized handguns, magazines, weapon parts, dozens of ammunition rounds, and copper ingots during weekend operations against illegal weapons and gunfire in Rahat, leading to several arrests.
During a targeted search of a residential compound based on intelligence, officers confiscated a Glock pistol, two handgun magazines, a full M-16 magazine, dozens of 9mm rounds, and 27 copper ingots suspected of being used for ammunition manufacturing. A local resident was arrested for questioning.
In a separate incident following reports of gunfire from an open area, security forces launched a search and detained two suspects who attempted to flee. A search of the area yielded a handgun, a 9mm magazine, five additional magazines, five M-16 stocks, and rifle handguards.
During another operation, police intercepted a vehicle carrying two suspects. One suspect fled and allegedly discarded a pistol with a magazine, while the other entered a nearby home, where 9mm ammunition was found in the courtyard.
Commander of the Rahat police station, Superintendent Yitzhak Yona, stated that officers are operating with zero tolerance against illegal weaponry, violence, and celebratory gunfire. He emphasized that cooperation between station police, SAHAR unit fighters, and intelligence units enables forces to remove weapons from the streets and target criminals.
