Precedent: Indictments against three boat operators suspected of sailing under the influence of alcohol
The operators were detained in the Gulf of Eilat and their boating licenses were suspended for 30 days. One suspect refused testing, while breathalyzer tests for the other two revealed alcohol concentrations of 483 and 403 mcg.
Indictments are expected to be filed in the coming days against three vessel operators in their 30s on suspicion of operating vessels in the Gulf of Eilat under the influence of alcohol.
Among the suspects detained for inspection:

A resident of Shfaram, who allegedly operated a vessel and refused to undergo an alcohol test. He was detained for questioning.

A 30-year-old resident of Nazareth, whose breathalyzer test showed an alcohol concentration of 483 mcg per liter of exhaled air.

A 30-year-old resident of Netanya, whose breathalyzer test showed an alcohol concentration of 403 mcg per liter of exhaled air.
Following the police investigation, the boating licenses of all three suspects were suspended for 30 days. The police stated that upon completion of all investigative actions, the files will be transferred to the Ministry of Transport prosecution for the filing of formal indictments.
This is a precedent, as it is the first time an indictment is expected to be filed for this type of offense. The Israel Police emphasize that operations against operators under the influence of alcohol or drugs will continue and call on the public to strictly follow the law and safety rules at sea.
