A resident of Shuafat was arrested yesterday following a long police chase after he refused to stop for an inspection at the request of traffic police officers. He was arrested and transferred for questioning.
A suspect attempted to flee from police and was caught after a high-speed chase. During traffic enforcement activity by a team from the Jerusalem District Traffic Division yesterday, Wednesday, in the Beit Hanina neighborhood, a patrol officer noticed a scooter rider with a passenger and ordered him to stop for a routine check.
The suspect refused to obey the officer's instructions and began a reckless escape, endangering his passenger, himself, and other road users.
During the flight, the scooter skidded, and the suspect and his passenger attempted to flee on foot. The officer conducted a determined foot chase until the scooter rider was caught and arrested.
Simultaneously, accomplices tried to remove the scooter from the scene, but following quick searches and precise guidance from an observer at the Jerusalem District control center, the scooter was located and seized.
Upon verifying the driver's identity, a 20-year-old resident of the Shuafat refugee camp, it emerged that he had never obtained a driver's license. This is the third time he has been caught driving without a license. The suspect was arrested, interrogated, and summoned to a court hearing.
