Senior Police Officer Arrested on Suspicion of Assaulting Disabled Wife
A senior Israeli police superintendent was arrested on suspicion of prolonged domestic abuse against his disabled wife. His detention has been extended until Tuesday.

A senior police officer holding the rank of superintendent in the Coastal District was arrested by the Police Internal Investigations Department on Friday on suspicion of assaulting, abusing, and threatening his wife, who suffers from severe disabilities. Investigators suspect that the incident was not isolated, but rather part of a continuous pattern of domestic violence.
According to the officer's version presented by his defense, the altercation stemmed from a single dispute that erupted earlier in the afternoon over missing items and money, including cash allegedly taken from a home safe. Family members were present during the argument, and the officer recorded part of the confrontation on his smartphone, claiming the footage proves he did not assault his wife. Following the dispute, he left the residence and relocated to his mother's home.
The defense maintains that the officer subsequently communicated his intention to initiate divorce proceedings, and that the wife filed a formal police complaint roughly four hours later. Conversely, the complainant asserts she was physically attacked, prompting investigators to examine visible bruises and marks on her body. The officer's detention has been extended by the court until Tuesday.
Attorney Shadi Hassan, representing the suspect, stated that his client completely denies the allegations of assault and expressed confidence that the full picture will emerge shortly. The investigation into the officer's conduct is ongoing, while a court-mandated gag order continues to withhold his identity from publication.
