Gun to the head and death threat: two robberies in one day at a park in Jaffa
Karim Guaba, 18, from Jaffa, robbed iPhone Pros on two consecutive evenings from a 16-year-old boy and a 42-year-old man. According to the indictment, Guaba threatened the teenager, stating that he intended to make purchases using the iPhone and that if he dared to cancel the credit card, "we will rape you and shoot you."
A teenager's birthday party and a night workout turned, according to the indictment, into two threatening robbery incidents in the same park in less than 24 hours. An indictment was filed in the Tel Aviv District Court against 18-year-old Karim Guaba from Jaffa, charging him with two counts of robbery under aggravated circumstances at Davidoff Park in Jaffa.
According to the first charge, about two weeks ago, around 1:00 AM, a 16-year-old boy was at a birthday party at Davidoff Park, in possession of an iPhone 13 Pro Max. Guaba arrived at the park with another minor on an electric bicycle, each holding an object that appeared to be a real gun. The two approached the boy and his friends and demanded they leave immediately.
It is alleged in the indictment that shortly thereafter, the minor pulled a gun from his pants, while Guaba got off the bicycle, pointed his gun at the boy, and ordered him to hand over the iPhone. Due to his fear, the boy complied. However, the incident did not end there: when the boy tried to walk away, the two approached him again, and Guaba, while threatening him with the gun, demanded the device's access code.
According to the indictment, Guaba threatened the boy that they intended to make purchases using the iPhone and that if he dared to cancel the credit card, "we will rape you and shoot you."
Less than 24 hours later, another incident occurred in the same park. Around midnight, a 42-year-old man was working out, in possession of an iPhone 13 Pro Max. Guaba and the other minor arrived again on the bicycle, brandishing objects that appeared to be real guns. They pushed the victim to the ground; Guaba pressed his gun to the man's head, while the minor pointed his gun at him from a distance.
The two ordered the victim to unlock the iPhone and hand it over, then commanded him to run. When the victim attempted to escape by jumping over a park fence, the two followed him, continued to threaten him with their guns, and demanded he enter the access code for the stolen iPhone into their phones.
Toy gun
A search of Guaba's home revealed a toy gun, which the prosecution states he confirmed was used in the commission of the crimes. Another toy gun was seized during the minor's arrest. The iPhone from the second incident was recovered from another involved party.
According to the prosecution, Guaba initially denied any connection to the incidents, but starting from his second interrogation, he admitted his involvement, described the sequence of events, and confirmed that the toy gun found in his home was the one used during the robberies.
