PayBox Eases Group Payment Restrictions: New 10,000 Shekel Monthly Limit per Card
PayBox is lowering barriers for group payments, allowing users to transfer up to 10,000 shekels per month from any card. The platform has also introduced the ability to transfer group administration to other users.
The management of PayBox is lowering barriers regarding the volume of payments made within the application's groups. From now on, it will be possible to transfer up to 10,000 shekels per month to groups from any card, rather than being limited to a PayBox card only. It will also be possible to change a group administrator, allowing the transfer of management to another user without the need to open a new group.
The core activity of PayBox involves the payment and collection of funds on a group basis. According to the company, on average, a new payment group is opened in Israel every 46 seconds. Last September, with the start of the school year, a group was opened every 9 seconds, with 3 out of 4 groups created by women. The most active group administrator on the platform manages over 2,000 groups, and the highest amount ever collected in a single group stands at 746,000 shekels.
PayBox concluded 2025 with a loss of 50 million shekels, following losses of 63.7 million shekels in 2024 and 77.5 million shekels in 2023. In total, over the past five years, the platform has incurred losses of 313.4 million shekels. PayBox has been under the full control of Discount Bank since the bank purchased the remaining 51% of shares from Shufersal for 77 million shekels in 2024, based on a valuation of 154 million shekels. Consequently, the bank has been absorbing the entire loss for the last two years. At the time of the acquisition, Discount Bank stated its belief that PayBox would become profitable within three years. The CEO of PayBox is Arik Frishman.
