Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana warned on Thursday morning in an interview with 103FM that retired Brigadier General Ofer Winter poses a significant threat to the right-wing bloc in the upcoming elections.
The Risk of Split Votes
"The greatest danger to the right is not the left—it is the right itself," Ohana stated. He drew a parallel to the 1992 elections, where the right-wing secured more total votes yet the left successfully formed a government. Ohana expressed deep concern that Winter's party will fail to cross the electoral threshold, effectively wasting crucial right-wing ballots.
"I call on Ofer Winter to unite, but the deadline has already passed. He needs to withdraw; he is endangering the right-wing camp. If he wants Benjamin Netanyahu as prime minister, then he should step down," Ohana said.
Dismissing Pre-Election Reports
Addressing recent media reports claiming that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu received a direct warning from the president of the United Arab Emirates prior to the October 7 attacks, Ohana categorically dismissed the allegations as fabricated.
"I think the Israeli public is already immune to the lies that pop up before elections from people like Mohammed Dahlan," Ohana asserted, suggesting the narrative is designed to influence the political landscape alongside opposition figures and media outlets.
