German authorities reported an "aerial emergency incident" on Tuesday afternoon, prompting the temporary closure of Nuremberg International Airport. According to local media reports, a special police commando unit was deployed to the airport amid an ongoing security operation.

The police operation began shortly before a Corendon Airlines flight arriving from the Greek island of Corfu touched down safely. Flight XR456 landed safely at 12:16 PM, just one minute behind schedule, after being escorted by German Air Force Eurofighter jets following reports of an unspecified airborne emergency.

Local police confirmed that the aircraft landed without incident and that the airport has since reopened after safety checks cleared the area. Investigators are currently working to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the emergency signal transmitted by the flight prior to landing.
