New mandate poll: Netanyahu and Eisenkot tied, coalition weakens
A significant mandate poll reveals a surprising tie between the Likud party led by Benjamin Netanyahu and Gadi Eisenkot's 'Yashar' party. The 'Beyahad' party, led by Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid, secures 14 mandates.
Ahead of the Likud party primaries to be held on Monday, a new mandate poll was published by Kan 11. The poll shows that Gadi Eisenkot and Benjamin Netanyahu achieve the same number of mandates (23), showing a tie. In third place is the 'Beyahad' party of Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid with 14 mandates, followed by Yair Golan's 'Democrats' party with 10 mandates.
According to the data, the 'Otzma Yehudit' and 'Yisrael Beytenu' parties garner an identical result, achieving 10 mandates each. The 'United Torah Judaism' party has 8 mandates, Shas has 7 mandates, Hadash-Ta'al has 7 mandates, Ra'am has 5 mandates, and the 'Religious Zionism' party remains behind with 4 mandates.
Looking at the distribution of the blocs, the opposition bloc achieves 57 mandates while the Netanyahu bloc holds 52 mandates. The Arab parties have 11 mandates in total. The poll was conducted by the Kantar Institute led by Dudu Hasid and included 1,103 respondents. The sampling error is 2.9%.
On Monday, polls will open for the Likud primaries and the pressure is reaching a peak. No fewer than 34 serving ministers and Knesset members will compete. In a scenario where the party receives 30 mandates in the elections, the serving politicians will compete for a maximum of 17 realistic spots.
As a result, about half of the serving Likud members are expected to remain outside the Knesset. The number of spots reserved for the Likud chairman and the positions for those elected in the districts led several party members to declare they would not run in the elections and to resign.
