Netanyahu Highlights Ties with Indian Prime Minister Modi Ahead of Vote
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu highlighted his ties with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi ahead of the upcoming Knesset elections, following a recent endorsement from US President Donald Trump.
With the Knesset elections approaching, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu continues to highlight his international diplomatic connections. Following an endorsement from US President Donald Trump, Netanyahu shared details on Thursday from a phone conversation with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Invitation to Independence Day
Writing on his political social media account, Netanyahu detailed that he invited Modi to participate in the upcoming torch-lighting ceremony alongside an Indian pilot. According to the prime minister, Modi expressed appreciation for their long-standing relationship and emphasized bilateral counter-terrorism efforts.
I spoke with my friend, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and invited him to light a torch together with the heroic Indian pilot on Israel Independence Day. Modi thanked me for the invitation and said that on the ground and in the air, India and Israel fight terror together.
Diplomatic Timing and Context
While Donald Trump recently offered explicit political support ahead of the vote, Modi's reported comments focused strictly on bilateral security cooperation and personal ties rather than the domestic electoral process. The diplomatic outreach underscores Netanyahu's campaign strategy of leveraging his global stature during the final days leading up to the election.
