Police officers and security forces neutralized a suspect who opened fire toward a police patrol in the Kiryat HaSharon neighborhood of Netanya. According to the police, no casualties were reported among the security forces.
Officers at the scene reported that they opened fire at the suspect, who was carrying an M16 rifle, after he aimed the weapon at them. Video footage from the area showed an individual walking down the street carrying a long weapon, followed by police forces arriving at the scene in protective gear.
Netanya Police Station Commander Chief Superintendent Kobi Abutbul stated at the scene that the incident has ended, though the investigation is in its initial stages. Central District Commander Major General Amir Cohen arrived at the scene to conduct a situational assessment. The identity of the suspect and the background of the incident are currently being investigated.
