Nahariya Officially Classified as Stable Authority Following Financial Recovery
The Ministry of Interior officially classified Nahariya as a stable authority following its 2025 financial report, praising its transition to budget balance despite ongoing wartime challenges.

The Ministry of Interior announced yesterday, Tuesday, that the municipality of Nahariya has been officially classified as a stable authority. The decision was made following an analysis of the audited financial report for 2025, marking the municipality's transition from heavy deficits in previous years to a balanced and responsible budget management.
This change is particularly striking against the backdrop of the security and economic complexities of recent months of war, during which the city, as the main unevacuated confrontation-line city, faced emergency challenges and ongoing uncertainty. The transition was made possible thanks to a policy of expenditure reduction, tighter budgetary control, and the development of growth engines and independent revenues.
The new status grants the municipality managerial independence, reduced bureaucracy, and regulatory reliefs vis-à-vis the Ministry of Interior. This flexibility will allow it to direct available resources to infrastructure development, education, urban appearance, and employment and commercial projects for the benefit of residents and local businesses.
Nahariya Mayor Ronen Marli stated in response: "The transition to a stable authority status, especially during a complex period of fighting and security challenges, is a badge of honor for the city. Responsible and prudent budget management has allowed us to move from a survival struggle to growth and development that will serve the residents of Nahariya in the coming years."
