Fallen Soldier's Mother Sworn In as Jerusalem Family Court Judge
Ingrid Har-Even, whose son Maj. Shilo Har-Even fell defending Nahal Oz on October 7, was sworn in as a Jerusalem District Family Court judge.
In a deeply emotional ceremony last week, Ingrid Har-Even, mother of the late Maj. Shilo Har-Even, a company commander in the Golani Brigade's 13th Battalion who fell in combat at the Nahal Oz base on the morning of October 7, was sworn in as a judge for the Jerusalem District Family Court.
Maj. Shilo Har-Even, who lived in Anatot, originally enlisted in the Egoz unit and served in various command roles. Roughly two months prior to his death, he took command of the operational company in Golani's 13th Battalion, responsible for the Nahal Oz sector. On the morning of Simchat Torah, he led his soldiers into battle against hundreds of terrorists who infiltrated the area.
For hours, Shilo and his subordinates fought heroically, eliminating dozens of terrorists while defending the Nahal Oz and Sa'ad sector. Even after being wounded, he refused to be evacuated and leave his soldiers behind, continuing to command and fight until he fell in battle. Following his extraordinary leadership and courage, he was recommended for the Medal of Valor.
Binyamin Regional Council head Israel Ganz stated: "Amidst the immense pain over the fall of the heroic Shilo, Ingrid moves forward, acts, impacts, and attains one of the most important roles in Israel's judicial system. Shilo is missed in this great moment, but his character, heroism, and the values he championed accompany the entire family."
