Mitch Goldhar in a massive deal: player bought for millions is on his way to Maccabi Tel Aviv

After a quiet period, Mitch Goldhar is not stopping, and the 'Yellows' have targeted Elijah Odude, a 19-year-old winger belonging to the French club Troyes of the 'City Group'. The winger, who was purchased for 3 million euros, also has offers from Turkey.

After a relatively quiet period from Canadian owner Mitch Goldhar, Maccabi Tel Aviv has shifted gears regarding strengthening the squad. Leading up to and during the season opener against Maccabi Haifa, the team's fans were informed of two particularly impressive signings — now we are informed of another one in the works.

As recalled, during the 3-1 victory against Maccabi Haifa, the comeback of Israel national team star Gabi Kanichowsky to the yellow uniform took place, and a few minutes later, the addition of English right-back and Glasgow Rangers legend James Tavernier was announced. However, at Kiryat Shalom, it seems the club is still hungry for success, and now aims to make another intriguing acquisition for the winger position.

The 'Yellows' have submitted an official offer for Elijah Odude, a 19-year-old Nigerian winger belonging to the French club Troyes, a member of the international football conglomerate 'City Group'. Odude, who failed to adapt in France, has been spending the recent period training in England and was mentioned as a candidate for several teams in the English Championship.

However, following the closing of the transfer window on the British Isles without signing with a local team, he now faces two main options: a move to Maccabi Tel Aviv or a move to one of the offers submitted to him from the Turkish league, with his contract at Troyes valid until 2030.

The young talent began his path in the Castle and Icon Allah youth academies in Nigeria, until he made the jump to Europe at the age of 18. In February 2025, he signed with the Moldovan Sheriff Tiraspol, for whom he scored impressive goals in the European qualifiers against Utrecht and Anderlecht and helped his team win the local cup.

Last September, he was sold to Troyes for a massive sum of 3 million euros. In France, he was used mainly as a right winger and recorded 13 appearances in all competitions (10 in the second division and 3 in the cup) in which he contributed one goal and one assist, in a season where Troyes was promoted to the top division.
