Italian Police Arrest 22-Year-Old Over Alleged Terror Plot Targeting Milan
Italian police arrested a 22-year-old man in San Giuliano Milanese on suspicion of plotting terror attacks against a synagogue and a mosque near Milan, following an anti-terrorism investigation.
Italian anti-terrorism police have arrested a 22-year-old Italian citizen in the town of San Giuliano Milanese on suspicion of planning attacks against targets in and around Milan, including the local Jewish community. The arrest was carried out by the ROS special unit following an investigation led by the Milan Public Prosecutor's Office.
According to evidence gathered from the suspect's digital devices, investigators established that he intended to carry out two separate attacks in the region: one targeting a Jewish synagogue and another aimed at a Muslim house of worship. Digital forensics revealed extensive self-training for terrorism, including downloaded bomb-making manuals, chemical sources for explosives, and instructions on modifying firearms to increase lethality.
In addition to operational preparations, authorities uncovered widespread online propaganda and incitement. The suspect distributed ideological manifestos and shared writings of Anders Behring Breivik, the neo-Nazi terrorist responsible for the 2011 Norway attacks that left 77 people dead.
Investigators stated that the shared content promoted white supremacy, accelerationism, racism, xenophobia, and Holocaust denial, alongside swastika symbols. The suspect remains in custody as security authorities investigate whether he acted alone or as part of a broader network.
