The popular Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses are officially coming to Israel through official channels rather than parallel imports, bringing full Meta AI functionality to local consumers for the first time.

Official Import and Full Warranty

According to new information, Luxottica Israel—the official local branch of the Italian parent company Luxottica, which manufactures Ray-Ban and Oakley eyewear—is managing the official import. This development ensures that the upcoming inventory will carry full manufacturer warranties, solving a major pain point for local tech enthusiasts.

Previously, Meta's smart glasses arrived in Israel only via parallel imports, and the company chose not to support Meta AI services locally. As a result, the devices functioned primarily as standard glasses with built-in cameras and audio, while advanced AI features remained completely blocked.

Activation of Meta AI Features

With the official distribution rollout, users in Israel are receiving notifications through the Meta AI application confirming service availability. After activating the service in the app, users unlock advanced capabilities such as real-time text translation, environmental object recognition, and general voice queries.

"Users can ask the glasses what they see right now, get information on objects in front of them, translate texts in real time, and more."

Beyond Optimicana, the officially imported eyewear is expected to retail across multiple major chains throughout the country in the coming weeks.
