A masked Israeli was filmed beating a Palestinian woman with a club in Masafer Yatta. IDF forces deployed to the scene, but the suspect fled and remains at large.
A masked Israeli man was filmed today beating a Palestinian woman with a club in the Masafer Yatta area, in the southern Hebron Hills. The suspect, apparently a local shepherd, arrived at the Area C location and was recorded confronting local residents.
IDF sources stated that forces rushed to the scene, but the suspect fled and has not yet been arrested. Police have opened an investigation into the incident. The villages in Masafer Yatta are unrecognized and located in Area C under Israeli control.
In 1980, the IDF declared the area a firing zone, and years of eviction proceedings for the villages have been ongoing since. Last week, Palestinians reported clashes between IDF forces, settlers, and locals near the village of Faqqua, near Jenin.
According to reports, forces arrived following a dispute between settlers and locals. Footage from the event showed a Palestinian shot in the leg, and reports indicated that IDF forces subsequently took over a house in the area.
