Two Wisconsin Fraternity Leaders Arrested Following Brutal Hazing Incident

Police Intervention at Langdon Street
Officers responded to an anonymous tip on the evening of September 23, arriving at the Langdon Street fraternity house at around 8:20 PM. Inside the basement, authorities encountered a large group of partially clothed new members, some of whom exhibited visible injuries, redness, and bruising.
According to Madison police, the basement temperature was approximately 27 degrees Celsius, and the environment was excessively humid and stifling. Officers declared the gathering an unlawful assembly, evacuated all occupants, and evaluated the young men to ensure none required immediate medical attention.
Arrests and National Organization Response
Brayden J. Klein and Samuel N. Wein, both 20-year-old fraternity leaders serving as president and vice president, were arrested on suspicion of hazing and disorderly conduct. They were subsequently booked into the Dane County Jail.
The national organization of Alpha Epsilon Pi takes these allegations very seriously, immediately suspended chapter operations, and pledged full cooperation with the ongoing police investigation.
University Status and Disciplinary Action
University officials emphasized that the specific chapter is not a recognized student organization. Its official university status was revoked back in 2015 following previous regulatory violations.
Despite the lack of official university recognition, the national fraternity headquarters continued to acknowledge the chapter, allowing it to operate independently outside official oversight. University of Wisconsin-Madison administration announced that it will conduct an independent internal probe, warning that students found responsible for policy violations will face severe disciplinary measures.
