A South Carolina resident trusted his gut feeling and bought 50 identical lottery tickets with the same combination, winning a total of $250,000.
Sometimes a gut feeling is worth a small fortune. For a resident of South Carolina, it was worth exactly $250,000.
The man, who chose to remain anonymous, decided to participate in the Pick 4 lottery near his home. Instead of settling for just one ticket, he purchased no less than 50 identical tickets across several convenience stores in the Summerville area, all featuring the exact same combination: 0-5-0-0, each costing a dollar. According to the man, there was no sophisticated mathematical formula behind his choice, just a strong intuition about those numbers.
Then came the winning numbers.
In the evening drawing held on August 18, it turned out his intuition was spot on: 0-5-0-0 was the winning combination. Since the man held 50 identical tickets, he didn't win just once, but 50 times. Each ticket was worth $5,000, bringing his total winnings to a quarter of a million dollars.
And what do you do after four numbers secure you a quarter of a million dollars? Surprisingly, the winner actually plans to stop betting on them. He stated that he probably won't play the same combination again for a simple reason: he doesn't believe he will be lucky enough for it to happen twice.
