Likud Candidate Oren Dobronsky Defends Israeli Economy and Outlines AI Mission
Likud candidate Oren Dobronsky defended Israel's economic standing and announced plans to lead the national AI policy under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, despite his family ties to Yisrael Beytenu.
High-tech entrepreneur Oren Dobronsky, who has been secured a spot on the Likud electoral list, addressed Israel's cost of living and defended the country's economic standing in an interview with 103fm radio on Monday.
"Israel is in an excellent economic situation, the best relative to other countries. People are going out to enjoy themselves and buying cars."
Dobronsky, who has focused most of his business activities in the United States in recent years, shared the details of his decision to enter politics. He revealed that the initiative came directly from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
AI Policy and Mission
Following a personal meeting with Netanyahu, Dobronsky was designated for a professional role focusing on artificial intelligence (AI).
"I am joining because I believe he should be prime minister, but also to perform a highly professional role. He designated me for a specific position to lead Israel's AI policy. I call it a draft order. It is something I am willing to do, and I feel it is a mission."
When asked about potential political constraints that might prevent him from taking the post, Dobronsky acknowledged that circumstances can change but stated he sees no reason for Netanyahu to back down.
Family Ties to Yisrael Beytenu
Interestingly, Dobronsky's father is a senior official in the opposition party Yisrael Beytenu, serving as the chairman of their organizing committee and maintaining close ties with party leader Avigdor Lieberman.
According to Dobronsky, his father encouraged him to take the step. Furthermore, Lieberman himself called to congratulate him on joining Likud, which Dobronsky described as a gesture by "great people."
Strong Support for Netanyahu
Dobronsky expressed firm support for the Prime Minister's leadership during the ongoing conflict:
"I am convinced that Benjamin Netanyahu is the ideal person to be prime minister at this stage. The war is not over, there are still difficult military and political decisions to make. I do not see anyone else managing these negotiations."
Reflecting on his transition from the business sector to the political arena, Dobronsky expressed surprise at the intensity of public scrutiny but reaffirmed his pride in joining the right-wing camp and the Likud party.
