Reports regarding the expected joining of Channel 14 commentator and close adviser to the Prime Minister, Yaakov Bardugo, to the Likud party list for the Knesset have sparked a storm in the media and political arena. Among those who did not remain indifferent is Channel 13 journalist Aviad Glikman, who launched a direct and open social media attack against Benjamin Netanyahu's move.
Glikman expressed sharp protest over the expected placement, writing on his social media account that he does not know whether it is funny or sad that Yaakov Bardugo is being reserved a spot in Likud. He added and emphasized that one thing is certain: these are the faces of the ruling party and of the Prime Minister. His remarks echoed sharp criticism within the political system regarding the blurring of lines between journalism, political consulting, and active politics.
Glikman's attack comes at the peak of last-minute drama in Likud, just hours before the closing of the Knesset candidate lists. According to reports, Bardugo is expected to be placed in the 11th-12th slots on the joint list, at the expense of quota spots allocated to Gideon Sa'ar's New Hope party, alongside a series of other reserved spots including Brig. Gen. (res.) Amir Avivi, Talik Goili, Elisha Medan, and Adv. David Peter.
