Biomed entrepreneur Mati Gill joins Naftali Bennett's "Beyhad" party
Biomed entrepreneur Mati Gill, CEO of AION Labs, will run for the Knesset on Naftali Bennett's "Beyhad" party list. He previously served as the party's high-tech headquarters chief and helped draft the "New Deal for High-Tech" program.
From high-tech to Naftali Bennett's "Beyhad" party: Biomed entrepreneur Mati Gill (46), CEO of AION Labs, will run on the list for the Knesset, as learned by Calcalist. In recent years, Gill served as the head of the party's high-tech headquarters and was among the founders of the "New Deal for High-Tech" program that it formulated.
Previously, Gill served as chief of staff to Avi Dichter at the beginning of his political career with the establishment of the Kadima party and until the end of his term as Minister of Public Security in 2009. During his time working with Dichter, while accompanying him to a briefing at the Gaza border, Gill was wounded in a Hamas shooting attack and was left with a permanent 20% disability.
After finishing his work with Dichter, he held a series of staff positions at the Israeli pharmaceutical giant Teva from 2010 to 2021. In his last role, he managed external relations and regulation at the company and accompanied the previous CEO Kåre Schultz during the deep crisis at Teva, which included widespread layoffs and the closure of factories, some of them in Israel.
Since leaving Teva, he founded AION, a kind of incubator for startups engaged in drug discovery and development using AI. As part of the activity, ten startups were established within four years, with large pharma companies, Amazon, and venture capital funds also being partners.
Gill immigrated to Israel at the age of 12 from the USA and lived with his family in Jerusalem. In the army, he served in the Foreign Relations Division of the Operations Directorate, from which he was discharged with the rank of Captain. Since October 7, he has gone on three reserve duty rounds in the Northern Command and, among other things, participated in the establishment and command of the joint operations room in Lebanon with representatives of the US Army's CENTCOM. Gill is married and a father of three. He holds a degree in law and government and an Executive MBA from Reichman University.
