Case closed? Doncic's ex-fiancée withdrew the alimony lawsuit
A Los Angeles court approved the dismissal of the request. The star's attorney: "The request should not have been filed at all."
The legal battle between Luka Doncic and his ex-fiancée Anamaria Goltes has come to an end after a Los Angeles court approved the dismissal of her request for alimony payments filed against the Lakers star. Attorneys for both sides appeared remotely before the court, with Doncic's attorney, Laura Wasser, using the hearing to criticize the very initiation of the proceedings.
"I believe this should never have been filed in the first place," said Wasser, one of the most well-known family law attorneys in the United States.
Goltes's attorney, Evan Itzkowitz, confirmed to the judge that there was also a request from his side to dismiss the case. According to him, the request was refiled after previously being rejected for a technical reason related to a signature. Judge Melissa Lyons approved the dismissal of the proceedings without a final ruling, leaving the door open for it to be refiled in the future.
This concludes, for now, the legal battle that began in March when Goltes filed an official request for alimony payments from Doncic. The legal proceedings forced Doncic to publicly confirm his separation from the Slovenian model and influencer after the two had been together for years. The Slovenian star then hired the services of Wasser, who asked the court to dismiss the request, arguing that it was an attempt to forum shop based on California's alimony laws.
Goltes stated in the dismissal request that she is interested in resolving the dispute with Doncic "amicably and by mutual consent, for the benefit of their children." According to reports in the United States, she has since requested a sum of 50 million dollars to end the conflict between the parties.
