Girona star publishes internal correspondence and promises: "One day I will speak"

Following the events surrounding the opening match of the second division in Spain against Leganes and the refusal of Girona stars to play, Viktor Tsygankov surprised everyone by posting several screenshots of internal WhatsApp conversations on social media regarding the club's communication guidelines.

"One day I will speak...", wrote Tsygankov in his first Instagram story, alongside an illustration of a person whose mouth is being covered by another person. Shortly after, he posted screenshots of internal messages from Girona.

One of the messages included a reminder to the team that:

"Any public communication, interview, or interaction with the media must be managed and approved in advance by the club's spokesperson."

Tsygankov also published another message addressed to him personally. In it, he was reminded that in accordance with his contract and the rules established regarding interaction with the media, he must receive prior approval to give interviews or make public statements. The message also mentions a journalist who apparently requested to speak with players, but his request was rejected by Girona.

Later, the tone became sharper. In the message published by the player, it was written that the requirement to receive approval "is not just an internal recommendation", but part of his contractual obligations. It was further clarified that giving interviews or public statements without approval could be considered a "breach of contract" and lead to "disciplinary measures".

Tsygankov's public response came a day after Quique Alvarez confirmed that the Ukrainian, despite being included in the squad for the match against Leganes, refused to come on as a substitute. "Tsygankov was in the squad and did not want to come on, but I cannot say more than that", said the coach after the draw at Montilivi.

The latest developments further increase the tension surrounding the player, whose desire to leave Girona during the current transfer window was already known. Now the conflict between the parties has become public. The club has not yet responded to the winger's posts and is expected to do so soon.

At this stage, Tsygankov chose to respond without fully detailing his version. The message "One day I will speak..." and the publication of the internal correspondence have opened a new front in the relationship between the player and the club.
