Google Meet's AI Note-Taking Feature Now Supports In-Person Meetings
Google is expanding its Gemini-powered meeting tools. The new 'Take notes for me' feature now allows users to automatically transcribe and summarize not only video calls but also in-person, face-to-face meetings.

AI tools for summarizing meetings have long been a standard in video calls, but what happens when you meet face-to-face (F2F)? Google is now releasing a new feature that brings Gemini's summarization capabilities into the real world.
Beyond video: summarizing physical meetings
For some time, Google Meet has included a feature that uses AI to summarize meetings held within the app. Over the weekend, Google added an interesting feature called 'Take notes for me,' which extends these capabilities to the real world, allowing you to summarize not only video calls but also face-to-face meetings held in the office or elsewhere.
According to our quick check, the new feature has already begun reaching corporate Google Workspace users, allowing you to start a meeting summary directly via your computer's microphone. Currently, it does not support Hebrew and is available only in English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish.
Once activated, Gemini generates a transcript of the meeting alongside a summary. Both are sent directly to your email, while a Google Doc containing all the details is created simultaneously. Additionally, you will receive a list of 'Action Items' broken down based on the meeting's discussion.
When the feature reaches your account, you will see a new 'Take notes' button next to the icon for starting a new conversation in the Google Meet web interface. Summaries for physical meetings are generated using Gemini, just like those for video calls.
Google is also rolling out this feature to private users, but only for those with premium subscriptions such as AI Pro and AI Ultra. As with many Google updates, the rollout is gradual and will reach all eligible users in the coming days and weeks.
