Yesh Atid disintegration continues: Karine Elharrar to leave Knesset list
The former Minister of Energy, who has served as an MK since 2013, joins the list of faction members who will not be in the next Knesset. "After consulting with my family, I decided to move on to a new challenge," she wrote.
Former minister Karine Elharrar joins the long list of Yesh Atid members who will not be in the next Knesset. In a statement published today, Thursday, Elharrar, who has served as a Knesset member for the last 13 years, wrote:
"After consulting with my family, I decided to move on to a new challenge, and therefore I will not run for the Yesh Atid list for the next Knesset."
Elharrar, who for a long time was the most senior woman in Yesh Atid, thanked party chairman Yair Lapid:
"14 years ago, Lapid added me to the list of founders of Yesh Atid and opened a door for me to the exciting political world, and for that I will always be grateful to him. Yair was and remains a friend and partner, a true leader who sees people at eye level and for whom the good of the country is always before his eyes. I am staying in Yesh Atid because Yesh Atid is my party and my political home, and you will still meet me in the election campaign where I will contribute and fight with you."
She reflected on her previous roles: "I served as chair of Knesset committees, as Minister of Energy, and I was a partner in national and international moves. I promoted significant legislation for children and youth at risk, and for the advancement of women's rights. I met and collaborated with fellow travelers who are truly the best and committed to change and fixing the country. Thank you to all the people I met along the way, to the excellent MKs, to our magnificent field headquarters, to the activists who do not get tired, and to everyone who was part of the way."
