Supreme Court Rejects Likud's Request — Party Warns of Primary Cancellation

The Supreme Court has rejected Likud's request, ruling that the hearing on the appeal regarding the party court's decision to ban MKs from running in districts will proceed as scheduled on Thursday at 09:00 and will not be moved up.

In their decision, the judges noted that the original ruling was issued on August 10, and the appeal was filed only the following day, reaching the court in the afternoon. It was further emphasized that since responses to the appeal have not yet been filed, the earliest possible date for the hearing remains Thursday, August 13, at 09:00.

Meanwhile, the Likud party warns that any judicial intervention in this matter will certainly lead to the postponement of the primary date and may even result in their cancellation.

At the center of the petition is the Likud party court's decision, which prevents serving MKs and ministers from running in district-allocated slots. MK Afif Abed, who filed the petition, argues that the decision was made without proper authority and that the Likud constitution does not prohibit elected officials from running in the districts.
