The coalition is treading water - and the opposition can already smell the 61st mandate | Maariv poll
A Maariv poll indicates stability in the mandate map: the coalition remains with 49 mandates, and the Zionist opposition with 57. Most of the public opposes joining Ra'am to the coalition and the proposed arrangement in Gaza.
Against the backdrop of uncertainty in the security, diplomatic, and political arenas, the status quo on the mandate map was maintained this week. This is according to a Maariv poll conducted by Lazar Research, led by Dr. Menachem Lazar, in collaboration with Panel4ALL.
In the opposition, following last week's drop of 2 mandates for the Democrats to 9, the party is failing to return to the double-digit figure it held before the primaries.
However, in the overall summary, there was no change: the coalition remains with 49 mandates, against 57 for the Zionist opposition parties, which could reach a majority of 61 with the help of the 4 mandates of the HaBayit HaTzioni party (Hili Tropper and Yoaz Hendel).
The Arab parties remain with 10 mandates, and the effect of the contacts between Mansour Abbas and Yoav Segalovitz is not yet showing its signs. In addition, Balad (1.4%) and Blue and White (1.2%) are still far from the electoral threshold.
The Maariv poll also shows that most Israelis (55%) oppose integrating Ra'am into a future coalition, even if Segalovitz is placed second on its list for the Knesset. 20% support it, and another 25% have no opinion on the matter.
It also emerges that most Israelis (54%), and especially voters of the coalition parties (72%), oppose the roadmap for an arrangement in Gaza as published. 24% support it, and another 22% have no opinion on the matter.
This week's poll also shows that the gap between Naftali Bennett (43% support) and Benjamin Netanyahu (40%) on the question of suitability for the premiership remains as it was.
So is the gap in favor of Gadi Eisenkot against Netanyahu (47% versus 38%, respectively).
Against Avigdor Lieberman, Netanyahu continues to lead with 42% compared to 38%, also without any real change compared to previous weeks.
The poll was conducted before the announcement by Gilad Erdan and Yuli Edelstein regarding the establishment of a new party that will run in the Knesset elections. In the poll, conducted on July 5-6, 3,514 people were asked to participate and 502 respondents answered (14%), representing a representative sample of the adult population in the State of Israel aged 18 and over, Jews and Arabs. The maximum sampling error in the poll is 4.4%.
