Channel 13 faces sharp complaint: "Crossing every red line"

Shai Glick, CEO of the B'Tsalmo organization, filed a sharp complaint on Monday with the Public Complaints Commission of the Second Authority for Television and Radio, alleging "derogatory and offensive remarks towards Knesset member Kati Shitrit."

In his letter, Glick demanded immediate disciplinary and supervisory measures against Channel 13. He explained:

"During a broadcast on Channel 13, in the program 'Ezor Bechira' ('Election District') with Raviv Drucker, one of the panelists, Miki Rosenthal, used a derogatory and humiliating nickname towards MK Kati Shitrit. The purpose of his words was to harm her based on her appearance (shaming and mockery)."

Glick argued that such behavior is unacceptable in public broadcasting:

"This is a statement that categorizes a public official based solely on appearance. This public humiliation and blatant shaming on screen constitute a crossing of every red line of journalistic ethics and proper public broadcasting."

According to Glick, such remarks are not only offensive but also dangerous, as they promote fatphobia. He further noted that this is not an isolated incident, citing a recurring pattern of behavior by the same panelist, including past inflammatory comments.

In conclusion, Shai Glick demanded:

1. The immediate opening of a formal violation procedure against Channel 13.

2. The imposition of severe sanctions and financial penalties on the channel.

3. That the management of Channel 13 immediately remove the panelist from its broadcasts.
