The circle is complete: 14 years after the evacuation, the settlement returns to Migron

14 years after the evacuation from Migron, the Israeli settlement has returned to the site. For the first time, it can be officially reported that about a year ago, the Binyamin Regional Council, through the Binyamin Development Company, established the "Migron Agricultural Farm" in Upper Migron – a new agricultural settlement point where several families reside. The council chose not to reveal the move until now, out of a desire to complete it fully. Today, with the connection of the site to electricity, the return to Migron is officially revealed.

In 2012, Migron became a symbol of the Supreme Court's intervention in settlement activity: for the first time, the court ordered the full evacuation of a settlement and rejected the compromise outline that the government had reached with the residents. Following the ruling, dozens of families were evacuated and the settlement's houses were demolished. The residents were moved to a new settlement established for them on the edge of the Migron ridge, near the Michmas checkpoint.

Now, 14 years later, Upper Migron has been connected to the electricity grid, after the families had lived on the site for about a year without electricity. The purchase of the lands and the development of the settlement point were carried out through the Binyamin Development Company, led by CEO Eldad Ben Zimra, and with the assistance of MK Avi Maoz from the Noam party, who significantly contributed to and pushed the move. The point is strategically located on Highway 60 between Shilo and Sha'ar Binyamin, and alongside the residences, agricultural activity is taking place there, intended to preserve the lands and strengthen the hold on the area.

Head of the Binyamin Regional Council and Chairman of the Yesha Council Israel Gantz said:

"Today we are closing a historical circle. In the place where houses were destroyed and families were uprooted, there is again a settlement, families, and life. For a year they lived here without electricity and guarded the land that was purchased legally, and today the light returns to Migron. Together with the government of Israel, we are correcting the injustices of the past and leading a great momentum of construction, development, and settlement. Thanks to Eldad Ben Zimra and the Binyamin Development Company who led the purchase of the land and the development of the point with determination. We will continue to strengthen the Israeli hold, develop the space, and build the future of the settlement in Binyamin."
