Bennett's Be-yahad Alliance First to Register for Knesset Elections
The Central Elections Committee has opened candidate registration for the 26th Knesset. Naftali Bennett's "Be-yahad" alliance was the first to register, requesting the historic ballot letter "Bet".
The Central Elections Committee began the official registration process on Monday for political parties contesting the upcoming elections for the 26th Knesset. Representatives of each political faction are submitting their candidate lists, along with their requested ballot letters and official names, to the Chairman of the Central Elections Committee, Supreme Court Justice Noam Sohlberg. Following submission, the committee will conduct statutory verification procedures.
The first faction to officially submit its list was the newly formed "Be-yahad" alliance, led by former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett. Representatives Meirav Cohen, Bruria Naim, and Jeremy Saltan requested the Hebrew letter "Bet" () or the letters "Resh-Kof" () for their ballot slip. The letter "Bet" holds historical significance, traditionally associated with the National Religious Party (NRP) and religious Zionist factions over several decades, and was last used by Ayelet Shaked when she led the Jewish Home party.
Pre-registration for time slots began on Sunday. Several other prominent factions are scheduled to submit their lists starting Monday afternoon, including the Reservists party led by Yoaz Hendel, "Yashar!" led by Gadi Eisenkot, and "Amcha Yisrael" led by Ofer Winter. While Shas and "Otzma Yehudit" have pre-registered, their formal submissions may not occur today. The remaining political parties, which have not yet booked slots, are expected to submit their lists on Tuesday between 16:00 and midnight.
