Kerem Shalom Inaugurates New Soccer Field Amid Post-October 7 Revival

Three years after October 7, the community of Kerem Shalom continues to grow and develop with the inauguration of a new soccer field. Funded by an investment of 630,000 shekels from the Tkuma Administration, the facility aims to strengthen community sports, foster a sense of belonging, and invest in the region's future.

Sports Infrastructure and Community Growth

The new field is part of a broader initiative by the Tkuma Administration to establish and upgrade approximately 67 community sports facilities across the Tkuma region. The project is carried out in cooperation with the Eshkol Regional Council and the Ministry of Culture and Sport, with the participation of Hapoel Beer Sheva head coach Ran Kozuch and club players.

Kerem Shalom residents returned to their homes last summer following essential restoration work that included the renovation of some 70 residential buildings, public structures, and infrastructure upgrades with a budget of roughly 10 million shekels. The kibbutz is currently experiencing a wave of renewal, highlighted by the opening of a new swimming pool three months ago and ongoing demographic growth.

Talia Weitzman, chairwoman of the Kerem Shalom Development Association and widow of Amichai Weitzman, who fell in combat defending the kibbutz on October 7, stated:

"Precisely in these days, just before we mark three years since October 7, we are inaugurating another place in the kibbutz that strengthens the community and symbolizes growth and development against all odds."

Tkuma Administration head Aviad Friedman added that children growing up in Kerem Shalom deserve the opportunity to train and strive for excellence just like anywhere else in the country, emphasizing that advanced sports infrastructure ensures the younger generation can thrive.
