Borussia Dortmund youngster Konstantinos Karetsas experienced an eventful evening during his side's 2-1 victory over Real Betis, which culminated in him scoring the winning goal after nearly missing his substitution due to a bathroom break.

In the 34th minute, Dortmund head coach Niko Kovac was forced to make an early substitution following an injury to Serhou Guirassy. The manager turned to the 18-year-old Greek talent, only to discover he was absent from the bench. With Karetsas temporarily missing, Kovac briefly considered sending on Carney Chukwuemeka instead, but the midfielder returned just in time.

Reflecting on the incident after the match, Kovac admitted with a smile that he had frantically searched for the player. "If he had still been in the bathroom, he wouldn't have come on," the coach remarked. Karetsas also addressed the humorous episode in a post-match interview with DAZN, noting that he had just returned from the restroom and received no tactical instructions before stepping onto the pitch to play his natural game.

The decisive moment arrived in the 72nd minute when Karetsas latched onto a pass from Fabio Silva to slot home the winning goal. Although the teenager was named man of the match, he humbly deflected the praise toward his teammate, asserting that Silva was more deserving of the accolade after contributing a goal and an assist.
